Ekiti governorship election: Opeyemi Bamidele shot at reception for Fayemi, fate unknown


Former member of the House of Representatives, Opeyemi Bamidele has been shot in Ado Ekiti the Ekiti state capital at the reception to welcome former governor and governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in the July 14th governorship election in Ekiti state, Kayode Fayemi.

He was reportedly shot following an altercation between policemen and hoodlums at the APC state secretariat in Ado Ekiti which necessitated policemen firing off sporadic shots to scare away the hoodlums. The policeman who allegedly fired the shot has also been mobbed by the crowd while he has been rushed to the hospital with his fate unknown.

He was hit while standing in company of Fayemi, Ondo state Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and executives of the party who came for the reception for the former governor to kick start his governorship return bid.
