The leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has been sighted in Jerusalem, in a video that surfaced on social media, after months of uncertainty surrounding his whereabouts.
Mr Kanu was last seen in public in September 2017 after a raid on his country home in Abia State by the army, shortly after his release from prolonged detention on charges of treason. A video which went viral on social media on Friday showed the IPOB leader praying in Jerusalem.
His lawyer, Mr Ifeanyi Ejiofor, who had earlier accused the Army of being responsible for his client’s disappearance, confirmed the authenticity of the video.
He explained that although he had seen the video earlier on, he later got a call from Kanu confirming that the footage was true.
