Ahead of the Edo state Governorship election holding September 10th, The Onogie of Uromi, HRH Anslem Eidonogie II, has called on politicians to avoid campaigns of hate speeches and other acts capable of stirring up violence in the State. The Onojie made the call at his palace in Esan North East Local Government Area of the state, when received the campaign team of a former commissioner with Niger Delta Development Commission and Governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr. Matthew Iduoriyekemwen.
Although the election is scheduled to hold on September 10, the Monarch, however, explained that politicians must conduct themselves according to electoral laws in order avoid electoral violence, which claimed the lives of several persons during the Rivers State rerun elections. He also urged them to eschew bitterness and embrace peace, as they plan for their party primaries which will hold between June 2 and July 4.
While commending the aspirant for declaring his intention contest the election, the monarch expressed hope he would perform creditably, having served as a two-term lawmaker in the state House of Assembly.
