President of the Nigerian Labour Congress, Ayuba Wabba has warned the Federal Government that it must move away from the neo-liberal policies of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank if the Nations’ Economy must survive its on-going plunge. Speaking at the National Governing Council meeting of the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations Recreation and Technical Employees, Comrade Ayuba also challenges the members of all Labour Unions to rise up and prevent all measures aimed at weakening the rights of workers in the country.

With the recent experience of the Nigerian Labour Congress in its quest to stop the continued pauperisation of the people of Nigeria and the success of the Federal Government and at states level to reduce the effectiveness of the strike called to fight the new pump price of the Premium Motor Spirit, President of the Union, says members of all Labour Unions must fight to protect workers’ rights. He discloses that protecting workers rights is an extension of ensuring that Nigerians are protected from the neo – liberal and insensitive economic policies of the Federal Government.

President of the Amalgated Union of Public Corporation, Technical and Recreation Employees, discloses the readiness of the Union to always stand firm in the defence of the rights of its members which to him is sacrosanct. He also expresses his surprise at the failure of some states to pay salaries despite the bailout by the Federal Government urging that this should be investigated by all anti corruption agencies.
