The Federal Government says it is committed to ensuring a clean national environment in order to have a sustainable fishery and farm lands. Minister of State for Environment Jubril Ibrahim has been giving this hint at a conference on Nigerian Bio-Safety act and Genetic Modify Organisms implication in Nigeria. He says environmental pollution, has grossly affected the capacity of food production in Nigeria.
The health of the earth has become a major concern all over the world due to critical global warming challenges which also affect Nigeria. The growing population is also a major challenge which has led to increase demand for food, fibre and fuel.
Minister of State for Environment says, Genetic Modified Organism has contributed to loss of agricultural lands. Reiterating that, the federal government will unfold a clear environment to ensure that Nigeria have a safe and satisfactory environment.
