Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai has formally put paid to the raging controversy surrounding his alleged purchase and ownership of houses in Dubai. The Army Chief made this disclosure at a media briefing to usher in the Nigerian Army Day Celebration, 2016 in Abuja. He attributes the reported media involvement making the rounds to the concerted efforts of mischief makers.
The Chief of Army Staff was quick to respond on the issue of his ownership of the Dubai properties when quizzed by news men who had gathered at the Army Headquarters for a briefing on this year’s army day celebration calling it an attempt to distract the military from the war against insurgency.
Rumours have been making the rounds that the Nigerian Army is planning to overthrow the government of President Muhammadu Buhari, but the army chief says there are indeed such rumours but the military is looking into what may have promoted such a rumour.
