Teenage golf prodigy Grace Agbo of the IBB International Golf and Country Club, Abuja, has emerged best gross winner at the 2025 Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN) Northern Zone Golf Championship. The three-day tournament, held at the Minna Cantonment Golf Club (MCGC) in Niger State, concluded on Saturday with over 250 golfers from across the country vying for honours.

Agbo, 18, claimed victory in the fiercely competitive Ladies Handicap 0–18 category, delivering a dramatic comeback to top the leaderboard with a total gross score of 246 over three rounds. Despite a rocky start scoring 90 on Day 1 and falling to fourth, Agbo rebounded impressively with 83 on Day 2 to tie for second. On the final day, she sealed her win with a stunning round of 73, her best performance of the tournament.

“This is one of my best wins ever,” Agbo said after lifting the trophy. “Even though I started nervously, I conquered my fears and never looked back.” She also credited her coach and caddy for their support and reaffirmed her ambition to turn professional and represent Nigeria internationally. Agbo’s closest rival, Justina Gideon, finished second with a total gross of 259 (87, 86, 86), edging out Janet Ali who also posted 259 (86, 88, 85) on countback. Early tournament leader Rahama Inusa dropped to fourth after a disappointing final round of 91, ending with a total gross of 260.
