The Katsina Local Government Council has commissioned a new Nigeria Police Outpost at Kofar Sauri Community in Katsina metropolis, as part of efforts to enhance security and improve the safety of residents.
The facility was officially commissioned on Friday by the Katsina State Deputy Governor, Hon. Faruk Lawal Jobe, who represented the state government at the ceremony. Speaking during the event, the Executive Chairman of Katsina Local Government Council, Hon. Isah Miqdad, said the establishment of the police outpost was aimed at complementing the efforts of the state government and security agencies in maintaining peace, law and order.
Miqdad explained that Katsina Local Government, being the largest council area in the state with a high population density, requires additional security infrastructure to effectively respond to emerging security challenges. He assured residents that his administration would continue to provide meaningful dividends of democracy, while calling on them to support government policies and programmes aimed at improving the lives of citizens. Also speaking, the DC Operations of the Katsina State Police Command, Alhaji Bello Tukur, commended the council for the initiative, describing it as a significant contribution towards the fight against crime and criminal activities within the metropolis.
He emphasised that security remains a collective responsibility, urging residents to strengthen cooperation with security agencies through timely information sharing. “Security is everybody’s business. If you see something, say something,” he urged.
